Safety

Your safety is our absolute priority. Here’s how we ensure every flight is safe.

How many passengers do our balloons carry?

We operate a fleet of 20 balloons of various sizes.
The smallest can carry 2 passengers, while the largest can take up to 32.
The size of the balloon used on a given day depends on the number of passengers interested in that particular flight. If there are only a few passengers, we use a smaller balloon; if there are many more, we fly with a larger one.

Most often, we fly balloons that carry between 10 and 15 passengers. The balloon size is planned in advance as we prepare the flight calendar for the next 14 days. This means you can easily check which balloon we plan to use by visiting the flight calendar and seeing how many seats are still available. You can also call our customer service office — if a specific balloon has already been scheduled for that flight, we’ll be happy to provide you with that information.

Are there any age or weight restrictions for passengers?

To participate in a flight, a child must be at least 7 years old and at least 140 cm tall.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Passengers weighing over 120 kg are kindly asked to contact our office. According to European Union aviation regulations, the ability to carry out a balloon flight depends not only on the number of passengers but also on the total take-off weight. This means that in some cases, a heavier passenger may reach the balloon’s take-off weight limit, and we may have to refuse another person’s participation in that particular flight. In such cases, we reserve the right to request coverage of the cost of an additional ticket.

My flight was cancelled, but other balloons still flew. Why?

A DreamBalloon pilot’s decision is entirely independent and based primarily on weather forecasts and risk assessment. That’s why, in rare cases, it may happen that our pilot decides not to fly, while another pilot chooses to proceed.

DreamBalloon pilots, unlike private owners of small balloons, are responsible not only for themselves but also for their passengers. Small private balloons can sometimes fly in more challenging weather conditions than commercial balloons carrying passengers. For this reason, especially during balloon festivals or competitions, it may happen that even though other balloons take off, DreamBalloon cancels its flight. Of course, in such cases, your ticket remains fully valid, and you can immediately book another flight.

Can I fly if I’m sick?

All passengers must ensure that they do not suffer from any medical conditions that would prevent them from safely participating in a flight. In such cases, DreamBalloon does not assume responsibility. By purchasing a flight ticket, we assume that each passenger is aware of their own health condition and takes full responsibility for it. Please remember that a flight ticket can always be transferred or sold to another person. In case of a ticket transfer, please inform us by phone so that we can update the passenger’s personal details.

Can people with disabilities fly in a hot air balloon?

We make every effort to ensure that people with disabilities can take part in a balloon flight without any obstacles.
However, since every disability is different and requires special attention and preparation, we recommend contacting us before purchasing a flight ticket. After learning about each individual situation, we can assess whether the person with a disability can join a flight with other passengers or if a more personalised approach is needed.
In special cases, we are even able to accommodate a person who requires a wheelchair during the flight. Please contact us by phone if such a need arises.

Can I fly in a hot air balloon while pregnant?

Unfortunately, for safety reasons, we do not take pregnant women on board our balloons. If you become pregnant after purchasing your ticket, simply contact us — we will extend its validity until after your pregnancy, so you can enjoy your flight safely without putting your baby at any risk.

Can I fly a hot air balloon by myself?

No. Flying a hot air balloon requires not only extensive knowledge of meteorology and navigation but also an appropriate pilot’s licence. Our pilots are fully licensed and qualified to operate all types of balloons available in our company — from small and large ones to those with unique shapes.

Am I insured during the flight?

Yes, in accordance with European regulations for air carriers, all our passengers are fully insured.

Is flying in a hot air balloon safe?

A hot air balloon is the first — and statistically the safest — type of aircraft we can fly. DreamBalloon is a licensed air carrier approved by European, Scandinavian, and Polish aviation authorities. We operate under strict supervision and regulation. We hold a licence for conducting commercial passenger flights issued by the Danish Civil Aviation Authority and approved by the Polish Civil Aviation Authority. All our pilots are fully certified for commercial hot air balloon flights and undergo regular quality and skills assessments. These inspections are carried out in accordance with the company’s Operations Manual.
The equipment we fly is also subject to strict inspections, conducted at least once a year by two independent companies specialising in technical evaluations of balloons.
